Music: Bass, Composition, Production, Private Instructor
Matt is a recent graduate from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he studied Jazz performance. While at school Matt studied Upright and Electric bass under Craig Thomas and Steve Beskrone. Matt plays jazz with a lot of different people most of his time right now is spent on gigs with Jersey area guitarist Erik Daab.
Matt is also a songwriter and composer. He has just finished a recording with his band Mountain Man, and looks forward to getting that released. Most recently he has been performing solo on various stages across the NJ/Philly area.
Scoring film is a relatively recent development in the grand scheme of things. Matt has always loved film, so scoring projects was a fairly natural progression. The audio in a film makes or breaks it, and is usually a large part of what defines a good film from a great one, a student film versus professional quality. To date Matt has scored only a handful of films.
This leads into the capturing of the audio for film and other music productions, sound recordist. This is the most recent endeavor. There are many things that go into the subtle art of recording audio for film. You have to make the people sound like they are where they are supposed to be, the backround sounds and sound effects have to be realistic and avoid crossing the cheesey line (unless they are supposed to), no small task but one I hope to master in the near future.
